Is Presence an illusion in our Sensory Perception of Reality?
This Research Project investigated the sensory perception of our presence through the lens of an Immersive Environment. This project investigated the concept of sensory illusion of our perception of presence in reality through the investigation of ‘Infinite Space’ and audiovisual experiences. This investigation was presented through audiovisual New Media art.
This project was influenced by my interest in New Media, and Audiovisual Artists, who explore visual perception and sound synthesis, and present their digital works via Projection and Projection Mapping.
Many New Media Artists who explore Immersive Space as their methodology have presented this through projection, sound, and other digital technologies to present their work; and have looked into the exploration of our reality as their subject. Examples of this include; ‘Immersive Environments’, such as the Japanese ‘TeamLab’ and ‘Artechouse’, and historical art movements such as ‘Op Art’.
